Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research
OR
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials researchKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of lab procedures and protocols
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Preferred
  • Skilled in techniques such as flow cytometry, western blotting, primary cell culture, LSCI-CBF, IHC, ICC, electrophoresis, PCR, genotyping, small animal behavior, and small animal imaging
Responsibilities Under general supervision, the Research Assistant will perform a variety of chemical, biological, microscopic, histologic, cytologic and/or dissection procedures in the research laboratory. He/she will coordinate the activities of all lab personnel, maintain regulatory information for the lab, maintain lab inventory, and ensure the upkeep of all lab equipment. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and/or participate in the preparation of media stains, reagents, perform radiochemical examinations, prepare tissue samples for light and electron microscopy
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and assist with ordering as needed, maintain lab equipment and log books and archive specimens
  • Perform bacteriological and chemical qualitative tests and macro- and microseriological procedures as well as involvement with other research procedures
  • Prepare laboratory animals for surgery, perform surgical procedures as instructed, collect tissues and fluid samples for analysis. Assist with feeding, watering, and general care of animals
  • Keep biosafety and other regulatory approvals up to date
  • Record and analyze results of research experiments and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of manuscripts for publication, and with preparing research presentations
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
