Must possess current Nursing Assistant certification (in good standing) for the state of Georgia. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification. Responsibilities The Activity Therapist will serve one nursing unit and will work with residents in group and individual activities and serve on various committees and work with the nursing and rehabilitation staff. Work is performed throughout the nursing home and grounds as well as on community outings.The duties include, but are not limited to:
    Plan and implement activity program to meet the specific needs and interests of each nursing home resident.Work both in groups and individually with residents to perform therapeutic activities that are consistent with the overall medical treatment being provided to each resident assigned.Documents residents' progress/problems and participate on the monthly activity participation sheets.Inventory, maintain and secure adequate supplies and equipment to carry out activities. Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and clean condition at all times.Organize special events, parties and seasonal programs. Develop, implement and assure that all decorating and clean-up functions are completed. Develop monthly activity calendars.Work in cooperation with the Director of Activities and Rehabilitation Restorative Technicians to maintain continuity in programming to assure that diversional, recreational, spiritual, intellectual and meaningful activities are provided.Assist in the recruitment, training and supervision or volunteers.Attend in-service training and educational programs to remain current skill competency and changing requirements of all regulatory agencies.Staff the Activity Clinic at scheduled times each week, working with individual residents with specific needs.Serve on committee as assigned by the Nursing Home Executive Director.Assist in developing, updating, reviewing and implementing department policies and procedures.Maintain safe driving habits and a current driver's license to transport residents to and from off campus activities.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety and usage procedures on any and all activity equipment.Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F (Ability to work flexible hours to include, some evenings and weekends) Pay Grade: 3 Salary: $11.85/hour - $12.94/hr Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: 9/11/2020 - until filledConditions of Employment In conjunction with an offer of employment, selected candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete Augusta University’s Criminal Background Check process.
