The state-of-the-art Center is located in the growing cybersecurity corridor in Augusta, Georgia, that is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and Cyber School of Excellence at Fort Gordon. The Center is located on the downtown campus of Augusta University and houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences. The Georgia Cyber Range is an environment used for cybersecurity training, secure sandbox and compliance testing, and cyber technology development. The Georgia Cyber Range will provide tools that help strengthen the stability, security, and performance of cyber infrastructures and IT systems. The Georgia Cyber Range will be available to students, private sector, and government professionals for training, product development, detection and defensive competition, response and recovery, and evaluation and benchmarking.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years' experience working on a team that supported an OpenStack deployment and experience with Ceph installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to maintain confidentialityExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databasesWillingness and ability to travel and participate in OpenStack Summits worldwideExperience in sizing, optimizing and deploying the hardware required to run Ceph and OpenStackAbility to work with, train and guide others in the installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of OpenStack and CephRequisite experience in python to debug stack traces in the various OpenStack projects and assist in filing bug reports upstream, if necessaryFamiliarity with git as a documentation repository and saltstack, ansible, puppet, chef or stackstorm as a system management and configuration toolFamiliarity with DevOps business practices particularly with regards to applying the software development lifecycle to system management (github flow, CI/CD, etc.)Active participation in the OpenStack and/or Ceph community through contributing code, filling bug reports, writing documentation or in some other recognized capacityDirect experience with the neutron m12 mechanism and have experience with deploying at least two different neutron backends (e.g. linuxbridge, ovs, midonet, networking-ovn, NSX, etc.)Preferred Qualifications
    Saltstack experience prefered, but not required.Two years' experience working on a team that supported an OpenStack deployment built from source rather than packages.
Responsibilities The Cyber Range Engineer will be responsible for providing first-level support for the Cyber Range platform. They are responsible for day-to-day maintenance and operation of the range under the guidance and direction of the Cyber Range Director and Cyber Range Architect. This position will maintain code repositories, file bug reports, patch systems, write documentation and provide first-tier support for problems with range functionality. The duties include, but are not limited to:
    OpenStack installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting as an operator, not an end user. Normal activities would include deploying OpenStack and being responsible for API functionality, scaling the deployment service themselves, troubleshooting python stack traces directly related to OpenStack core functionality and other operational similar tasks.Interacting with a version control system (git) to maintain the Cyber Range configuration and documentation. Perform DevOps business practices particularly with regards to applying the software development lifecycle to systems management (github flow, CI/CD, etc.). Configurations stores and maintained in version control will include, but is not limited to server configurations, network device configurations and environment secrets.Work with Cyber Range Architect, Cyber Range Buildmaster and Cyber Range Director to determine and prioritize upstream development tasks needed to perform Operational Technology integrations. Assist with testing of code developed to enable these features.Ceph installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting. Normal activities would include deploying Ceph and being responsible for overall functionalist, direct interaction with mons and scaling mons, osds, mds' and mgrs.Actively participate in OpenStack and Ceph communities through contributing code, filing bug reports, writing documentation, attending summits or in some other recognized capacity.Work with GCC IT staff as applicable to coordinate hardware RMAs and warranty activities with Cyber Range vendors.Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
