Minimum Requirements High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization supplemented by two years of college level work in the physical and/or biological sciences, and considerable experience in performing diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations in the specialized area assigned to work Departmental Requirements - Knowledge, Abilities, Skills Good verbal/written communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge and/or experience in Microsoft ExcelKnowledge and skills for working in a basic science laboratoryAttention to detailWillingness and ability to work with research animalsAbility to maintain confidentiality Preferred Experience in a basic science or clinical laboratory Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and/or participate in preparation of media, stains, and reagents, perform radiochemical examinations, prepare tissue samples, perform bacteriological and chemical qualitative tests and macro- and microserological procedures
  • Assist with the ordering and maintaining of laboratory supply inventory, maintenance of lab equipment, maintaining log books, archiving specimens
  • Prepare laboratory animals for surgery, perform surgical procedures as instructed, collect tissue and fluid samples for analysis
  • Assist with feeding, watering and general care of animals
  • Record and analyze the results of research experiments and procedures
  • Assist with manuscript and presentation preparation
  • Other duties as assigned
