Responsibilities The individual hired in will assist the PI in planning and designing of projects, and be able to independently perform various experiments. This position requires the person to combine molecular and cellular immunology techniques to conduct research, involving the use of innovative mouse models for combinational drug treatment of animals to study the effect of chemoimmunotherapy on cancer. The position holder will be mainly responsible for maintaining all of the mouse colonies the lab keeps including breeding, genotyping, and maintaining an updated inventory of the animals. It is also crucial for the candidate to have demonstrated experience in delivering different types of mouse injections (subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intra venous) and oral gavage in addition to accurate tumor measurements. It also involves preparing samples for next-generation-sequencing studies, and analyzing data using Ingenuity System Pathway Analysis and analysis of complex data from ChIP-Seq experiments. The knowledge of system biology tools and bioinformatics is expected after training. This advanced position involves both senior technical and supervisory level for training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The person assist the PI in writing papers and grant projects. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in project planning and development of research protocols, documenting detailed experiment records
  • Conduct experiments and analyze results of experiments, document and maintain detailed experiment records
  • In addition to general responsibilities above, the duties include, but are not limited to: determining the need for new supplies and equipment, making responsible purchasing decisions, placing orders, maintaining computer database and hard copies for inventory (e.g. chemicals, supplies, frozen tissue and protein samples, antibodies, etc.) and equipment service records, keeping laboratory equipment functional, preparation/update of animal use, biosafety and chemical protocols, and coordinating daily operation and cleanliness of the laboratory. Maintain laboratory record keeping, laboratory supplies inventory, and frozen stocks of cell cultures. Work with small animals, maintain cell and mouse lines
  • Attend lab meetings and discuss results, offer opinions and insight on technical problem solving and future scientific directions
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
