Ability to delegate, coordinate and supervise other nursing personnel.Five years of nursing experience with some experience with MDS programs and supervision.
Responsibilities The Staff Nurse must possess knowledge regarding State, Federal, VA and Joint Commission guidelines governing long term care. The person in this role will conduct and coordinate the development of the patient assessments and interviews related to MDS, in accordance with state and federal guidelines and the policies of the facility. The Staff Nurse in this role will also coordinate the admission process and direct the patient care team during patient care conferences. The incumbent should also possess leadership ability and be willing to work harmoniously with other members of the interdisciplinary care plan team and may be required to assist as facility supervisor, if needed The duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop care plans on all patients. Responsible for updating care plans, Quarterly and Annual MDS assessments.Coordinate the development and completion of the patients’ assessment (MDS) in accordance with current regulations and guidelines. Participate in facility surveys made by VA, State and the Joint Commission.\Work with the interdisciplinary Care team to develop an accurate individualized comprehensive plan of care.Participate in planning in-service training classes that include assessment skills or techniques needed to complete assessment functions in LTC Component.Ensure that quarterly and annual patient assessments and care plan reviews are made on a timely basis.Ensure that all members of the interdisciplinary team are aware of the importance of completeness and accuracy in their assessment functions.Participate on committees as assigned by the ADON and DON. Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
