Department Information This is a Part-Time position with a work commitment of .80 - Average 32 hours per week Minimum Requirements Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and two years of experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned with a minimum of five years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience Departmental Requirements - Knowledge, Abilities, Skills Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsCompetency in Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, EndNote, or willingness to learnStrong work ethic and desire to learnMust be highly motivated and detail-orientedAbility to work independently; prioritize tasks; complete work and meet deadlines; make responsible decisions; maintain confidentialityWillingness and ability to work with research animals Preferred Experience with animal breeding, genotyping, animal surgery, and routine experiments including cell culture, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, RNA isolation, real-time PCR, lentivirus productionExtensive animal surgery experience Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to: research the role of reactive oxygen species and Cu transport proteins in cardiovascular disease and angiogenesis; work with animal models relevant to human disease, using multiple experimental techniques including surgery, cell culture, plasmid amplification and lentivirus production, flow cytometry, real-time PCR, histological studies using transgenic and knockout animals; perform data collection, summarization and maintain colonies and reagents on assigned research projects; participate in project planning and development of research protocols; manage the laboratory, orders, and lab core experiments, and work on mice breeding and genotyping; manage overall logistics and expenditures on day-to-day operations; prepare/submit posters for scientific meetings; assist with manuscripts for publication; and other duties as assigned. Shift/Salary This position is supported by grant funds Shift: Days/M-F Pay Grade: R14 Minimum Salary: $47,476/Annual Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: 7/27/18 - Until Filled Conditions of Employment
