The Department of Restorative Sciences is seeking full-time faculty for predoctoral didactic, preclinical and clinical learning in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and associated areas. Participation in DCG Restorative Sciences advanced training programs including Prosthodontics, AEGD and GPR may be expected consistent with candidate experience and the department mission. The ideal candidate has advanced restorative and/or advanced operative training. Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience and who demonstrates expertise in advanced technologies, digital workflow and/or dental implants to support expansion of the advanced technology curricula. The candidate should also have prior experience in dental education and demonstrated ability to work productively in didactic and clinical educational environments. The preferred candidate will have a history of publications, as involvement in research/scholarly activity including publications is expected. Involvement in research/scholarly activity including publications is expected. Participation in the DCG intramural faculty practice is available. Candidates must have a US DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent) and have an active unrestricted license in another state or be eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences and works collaboratively with faculty within the department and across the College. Restorative Sciences Department Educational Assets and Responsibilities:
- 40 paid faculty (28- 1.0 Full-time and 12- Part-time positions at various FTE), 1 office manager, 9 administrative support personnel and 2 traditional laboratory technicians, 2 digital laboratory technicians, 1 research laboratory technician, 1 hygienist and 1 anaplastologist.
- Pre-doctoral responsibilities: D1-D3 courses, pre-clinical labs and clinical experiences
- Collaboration and support with the Department of General Dentistry for the D4 year.
- 3 Advanced Education Programs: Prosthodontics, AEGD, and GPR
- Collaborative responsibilities with all departments pertaining to predoctoral learning, advanced education learning in support of restoration driven patient care.
- Esthetic Center (shared responsibility with College Administration)
- Biomaterials Research Laboratory
- Production laboratory
- Collaborative agendas relating to research/scholarly activity and service.
Projected Assigned Effort
60% Teaching/Learning- participation in courses and clinics. Perform as an effective and active Clinician-Educator, as measured by quantitative and qualitative educational metrics.
10% Research/Scholarship- collaborate with faculty and serve as mentor for students/residents regarding research/scholarly activities leading to presentations and publications.
20% Patient Care- provide quality patient care in the Augusta University Dental Associates faculty practice clinic.
10% Service- participate in efforts that support the DCG, AU, the profession and the public.
