Minimum Requirements High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and three years' experience in applicable related trade. Must have a valid driver's license and be qualified to operate Augusta University vehicles.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of National Electrical CodeExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality, read/interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and technical instructionsProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases and ability to function adequately using a computer work station or laptopKnowledge of electrical maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of 120 Volt, 2018 Volt and 480 Volt electrical systems, lighting systems and fire alarm systemsPreferred Qualifications Electrical Contractor (non-restricted) license from the State of Georgia; Six or more years of applicable electrical maintenance or construction experience or a combination of; Technical school diploma from an accredited college or university in the electrical or electronic fieldResponsibilities This position performs maintenance and repair on building electrical systems (480-208-120-24-12 Volt systems), interior and exterior lighting, emergency generator systems, Switchgear Breakers, electrical sub panel breakers and working, fire alarm systems and mechanical room equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, lighting controls, etc. The person in this role coordinates and performs electrical utility shutdowns as needed and/or assigned; Assists the Supervisor and/or develops standard operating procedures for operating emergency electrical generators and fire alarm systems for disabling and enabling various points for the FAP. The regular working hours for this position are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and may include mandatory overtime which can include holidays, weekends and after regular working hours. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Electrical/fire alarm-related equipment and systems preventative maintenance.
  • Electrical equipment and systems troubleshooting and repair.
  • Providing technical assistance and training to other electricians.
  • Performs monthly emergency generator load tests.
  • Reviews and develops equipment preventative maintenance records (PM's).
  • Develops, reviews and orders materials.
  • Assists in all shop safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform all other related duties/tasks as required.
