The Department of Radiology has a faculty opening for a research Medical Physicist with clinical radiology support who will be Section Chief of Medical Physics. Responsibilities will include research, clinical medical physics and teaching of residents, technologists and technology students. Academic rank is commensurate with training and experience. The department is equipped with three CT Scanners (two 256 slice scanners and one 128 slice scanner), three MRI Scanners (two 3 Tesla scanner and one 1.5 Tesla scanner), as traditional radiology imaging equipment (Ultrasound, PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine and R&F equipment).
Duties as a research medical physicist with clinical radiology support would typically include:
- Participate in research appropriate to the practice of medical physics in an academic radiology departmentParticipation in the medical physics section’s support of all imaging equipment, to include: oversight of quality control, participation in equipment selection, development of purchase specifications, acceptance tests of imaging equipment, dosimetry, and resolution of imaging problemsMaintenance of a quality control program for MRI, computed tomography, digital radiography including mammography, ultrasound and fluoroscopyActive involvement in the ACR accreditation programs for imaging equipment. Performance evaluations of all imaging equipment in compliance with ACR recommendations, The Joint Commission standards and State regulationsParticipate in imaging physics instruction of diagnostic radiology residents, technologists and technology students.
