    Current license to practice medicine as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) without restrictions in the State of Georgia

    Current DEA registered number without restrictions.

    Board certified or board eligible in a primary care specialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Obstetrics and Gynecology) Current BLS and ACLS certification.

    Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience as a physician.

    Two years of supervisory experience.

    Security clearance by the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC)

Minimum Requirements

The Regional Medical Director oversees and supervises the Facility Medical Directors and Advanced Practice Providers within assigned Augusta University Department of Correctional Healthcare-Adult Health) Region. Communicates and evaluates the facility Medical Directors within the region. Assists the Director of Medical Services in accomplishing AUDCH-AH initiatives.

Duties to include but are not limited to:

    Assists in the provision of clinical care services including strategic planning, short term operational planning

    Travel up to 70% within the state.

    Assists in the development and presentation of the clinical activities budget, including staffing, and equipment needs.

    Assists with the development of continuing professional education, in-service training and orientation of clinical staff.

    Participates in concert with the Director of Medical Services in the recruitment and interviewing of medical staff and assurance of their credentials.

    Recommends hiring and termination and other disciplinary actions of medical staff for the review and approval of the Director of Medical Services.

    Ensures that all NCCHC's Standards for Health Services in Prisons and ACA Standards are met.Assists the Statewide Medical Director in implementing policies and developing procedures in accordance with quality medical and nursing care as defined in the NCCHC's Standard for Health Services in Prisons, ACA Standards and all applicable GDC Standard Operating Procedures andAU policy.

    Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of quality indicators.

    Assists in the development of treatment guidelines.

    Conducts site visit to regional facilities (bi-annual site visits to larger facilities and annual sites visits to smaller facilities.)

    Represents the Director of Medical Services in clinically related liaison activities with GDC or Medical Associations.

    Participates as required as a member of the State-wide Infection Control, CQI, P & T, and other committees as required.

    Participates as an active member of the Mortality Reviews Committee.Participates as an active member of the Credentials Committee Serves as the Director of Medical Services designee as needed.

Preferred

    Correctional Healthcare experience preferred

    Managed care experience or experience with a large physician group in a managerial role preferred
