With expanding programs and financial stability, the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University seeks a full-time faculty member to serve as Clinical Director and lead the expansion of the public psychiatry partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. This position will manage medical and clinical care at East Central Regional Hospital-Augusta (ECRH) (located only five miles from the medical school campus), a MCG teaching facility with a 90-bed psychiatric facility, 71 forensic beds and a developmental disabilities facility caring for 200 individuals. Presently there are more than 10 MCG psychiatry and psychology faculty positions at ECRH. These positions will enhance teaching throughout the department by expanding the MCG presence and enhancing core didactic and residency practical instruction in psychiatry and psychology.

The Clinical Director position will fulfill the agreement with GA Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) for psychiatric services to be provided at East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH). The Clinical Director has overall responsibility for assuring high quality care for the patients of ECRH, including coordinating the efforts of the staff physicians, psychologists, and social workers at ECRH to assure that community health care services are adequate, appropriate and accessible. The Clinical Director oversees, develops and implements related policies and procedures, plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the delivery of health services, monitors and evaluates healthcare programs. The Clinical Director provides leadership to subordinate managers and staff. The Clinical director sets priorities and implements goals and objectives to meet or resolve identified health problems, and interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of and when necessary, disciplines and discharges health care employees.

This position will not be eligible for tenure.

Minimum Requirements

The Medical College of Georgia, part of Augusta University seeks a Board Certified Psychiatrist for the Clinical Director position through an Academic Partnership with 4 years of management/supervisory experience in healthcare.

MD, DO, or MBBS required.

Conditions of Employment
