Minimum Requirements

Licensed to practice as a medical or osteopathic physician in the State of Georgia. Must have current DEA number. Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or OB/Gynecology. Must have current CPR and ACLS certification. Minimum of two years’ experience as a physician and two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity. Correctional healthcare experience preferred. Experience in managed care preferred. Good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co-workers.


The duties to include but are not limited to

Responsible for the clinical services within the institution. Provides services to inmates and consultation to professional staff. Supervises other physicians and clinical associates (PA/NP). Participates in the clinical CQI process. Participates and provides input in the OHS clinical audit process. The Medical Director serves as the principle “Responsible Heath Authority (RHA), for all Clinical related functions, as delineated within the current NCCHC Standards Manual, (reference Standard P-A-02).
