The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Department of Pediatrics, seeks a board eligible/board certified Pediatric Pulmonologist to join its full-time faculty. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
The Augusta University (AU) Division of Pediatric Pulmonology provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation, diagnostic and management services for children with a wide array of pulmonary diseases. The AU Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center is a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-supported program that is committed to the highest standards and aggressive clinical care required for optimal health for patients with CF. The CF Center is actively involved in a number of clinical research trials and was recently recognized for its initiatives in quality improvement. Inpatient and outpatient pulmonary consultation is provided for the management of a wide range of pediatric pulmonary diseases, including asthma, chronic lung disease, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, and restrictive lung disease and management of home mechanical ventilation. The division includes a comprehensive pediatric sleep medicine program. A Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory provides complete diagnostic testing including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, sweat testing, exercise challenge and bronchoscopy. The successful candidate for this position will have a passion for clinical care in an academic setting and a strong interest in teaching medical students and residents.
Clinical operations for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University are managed at Augusta University Health, which includes a 478-bed state of the art medical center, a Critical Care Center housing a 13-county regional trauma center and a 154-bed children’s hospital. It also includes a Medical Office Building with more than 80 outpatient practice sites in one convenient setting. The Children’s Hospital of Georgia houses the region’s only Level IV NICU, and a comprehensive group of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists. We provide skilled, compassionate care to our patients, conduct leading-edge clinical research and foster the medical education and training of tomorrow’s health care practitioners.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Direct patient care for pediatric patient population in include both outpatient and inpatient setting. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, patient/family education and various procedures.
- Maintaining and ensuring that relevant patient records are properly updated.
- Sharing weekday and weekend emergent/after-hours call coverage.
- Participating in mentorship and providing clinical supervision and consultation to residents/medical students/staff at Children’s Hospital of Georgia and developing a more in-depth educational experience for trainees.
- Providing training to residents/medical students/staff in pulmonology through didactics and clinical supervision.
- Participating in community activities, speaking engagements and educational support for students at local schools and universities.
- Participating in one (or more) departmental/institutional committee.

Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university, Board Certification in Pediatrics, Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology. Must have or be eligible for state of Georgia medical license, DEA and CPR.
Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
