Minimum Requirements High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and two years' experience in applicable maintenance related trade. Must have valid driver's license to operate AU vehicles.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to work from scaffolds, ladders and other platformsAbility to maintain confidentiality and operate motorized liftKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautionsExcellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databasesAbility to work independently, work from drawings, plans, specs and manualsMethods, practices, tools, equipment and material used in a variety of building trade tasks (carpentry related building trades)Understand oral and written instructions, identify discrepancies in buildings and related structures and determine adequate corrective measuresResponsibilities The Facilities Maintenance Spec 1 provides skilled manual work for general maintenance repair, equipment installation, and alteration of campus buildings and structures. Work may be in several building trades. The duties include, but are not limited to:
Inspection of campus facilities: annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly as required: Log and identify discrepancies and recommend corrective action. Order materials using proper forms. Schedule work, inform supervisor of status and follow up. Perform work in a timely and professional manner.Builds, repairs, installs various campus structures and equipment: Follows instructions from manufacturer's manuals, plans, specs, and oral instruction. Choose proper tools and materials for job and prepares proper forms for time and material estimate. Schedule work with supervisor and perform work in a timely and professional manner. Have good housekeeping and good safety practices.Performs work from work requests and service calls from campus community: Performs work in a timely and professional manner. Provide services to students, faculty, staff, and external customers without interrupting their activities. Get proper permission to perform work. Maintain shop equipment and vehicles: Keep shop, shop equipment, and vehicles in good, clean working order. Make repairs and adjustments to equipment. Request new equipment with proper forms and estimates.Appearance and teamwork: Must wear appropriate uniform and maintain good hygiene. Treat others with respect, supervisors, co-workers, subordinates, faculty, students, vendors and visitors. Observe all departmental and university policies and procedures. Expected to work overtime in emergency situations.Perform related work as required: The above job responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F; Expected to work overtime in emergency situations. Pay Grade: 7 Salary: $12.62/hour - $12.98/hr
