About Dutchess Community College:

Located in the heart of New York's beautiful and historic mid-Hudson Valley, just 90 minutes north of New York City, DCC is part of the State University of New York, the largest comprehensive public higher education system in the country. A winner of the 2015 HEED Award for inclusiveness, DCC is dedicated to respecting individuality, embracing diversity and partnering with the community to achieve shared goals. The College welcomes applications from faculty and staff who share and are anxious to support the institution's values of Excellence, Access, Diversity, Collaboration and Accountability, and who are passionate about engaging with both students and the community.

The History of the DCC Foundation

The DCC Foundation was incorporated in 1975 to advance the mission and goals of Dutchess Community College. It became a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation in 1984 with assets totaling $280,069. As of August 31, 2020, the Foundation's assets total $14,056,018. This growth provides for scholarships and grants in excess of $800,000 each year.

Additionally, the Foundation supports endowed chair programs, student technology, facilities and campus improvements and sponsors a variety of special programs to support the College's mission.

We are able to do this through the generosity of our alumni and friends that have made the DCC Foundation a philanthropic priority. Funds are raised through our annual fund, major gifts and special events programs. This support makes a measurable difference financially for our students.

The Dutchess Community College Foundation has become an integral part of the College's drive to maintain excellence and to improve the educational experience for present and future students.

The Mission of the Dutchess Community College Foundation

The DCC Foundation is to raise funds to provide scholarships and support the College's initiatives that will have a significant and direct impact on the students, faculty and staff of Dutchess Community College.

Organization

Working at Dutchess Community College

Dutchess Community College has been in Dutchess County for more than 50 years. We have the reputation of being the best community college in the state for academic excellence and the success of our graduates. Students who transfer to a four-year school after Dutchess do better and graduate at a higher rate than students who transfer from other colleges. Plus, we currently have the lowest tuition of any college or university in the state.

Our main campus is in Poughkeepsie, with a major extension site in Wappingers Falls. Students can also take DCC classes at high schools throughout the county.

We offer associate degrees and certificates in more than 60 program areas. Some of these programs are occupationally-oriented, designed to provide the skills students need to enter the job market immediately upon graduation. Other programs are designed to provide the first two years' of study toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. The certificate programs provide a condensed program in a particular field of study and usually can be completed in one or two semesters of study.

There are three different types of degrees from which students can choose:

The Associate in Arts Degree (A.A.) is used primarily for transfer programs that lead to the bachelor of arts degree at a four-year college or university. It may be used for general liberal arts programs.

The Associate in Science Degree (A.S.) may be used for certain occupationally-oriented studies, but is primarily designed to serve science or professionally-related programs that lead to transfer to a bachelor of science degree at a four-year college or university.

The Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) is structured as an occupationally-oriented degree. However, it may be appropriate as a transfer degree to certain types of specialized baccalaureate program such as the bachelor's of technology.
