Position Summary

Nicolet College is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Correctional Facility GED Examiner to administer GED tests to inmates at the Oneida County Jail and Vilas County Jail. The hours are variable, usually less than 10 hours per week. This is a part-time position on the Academic Success team reporting to the Director of Adult Basic Education and Tutoring.

  • Transport laptops to and from jail sites for inmate testing.
  • Administer GED tests to inmates at OCJ and VCJ on an as needed basis.
  • Troubleshoot basic computer issues.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 6 laptop computers.
  • Ability to drive to locations, usually with 48 hours’ notice, including weekday hours as needed.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to facilitate testing.
  • Ability to work effectively with inmates of varied ages, learning styles, academic levels, and cultural backgrounds in classroom and non-classroom settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and maintain positive working relationships across the College and in the district.
  • Ability to become a certified GED Examiner. (See qualifications below.)
Required Qualifications:
GED Examiners must have:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally accredited college or university and experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing; or
  • An Associate Degree from a nationally accredited college or university and three years of experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing; or
  • College-level coursework and experience as a testing proctor at the discretion of the jurisdictional GED Administrator.

Compensation:
The position pays $20 per hour. Benefits are not included with this part-time position.
