About the College/Unit/Department:

The College of Engineering, formed on July 1, 2012, is building a vibrant academic environment that fosters engineering education in a liberal arts environment and research that addresses critical societal needs. The College offers eight undergraduate and seven graduate engineering degree programs spanning all engineering fields. The College has grown rapidly to more than 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students and over 80 faculty members.

Position Summary:

This position is an Academic Advisor II in the College of Engineering’s School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a caseload of approximately 350 – 400 advisees by administering student academic support, providing guidance to students on progress towards graduation, offering guidance on co-curricular opportunities (study abroad, internships etc.), and representing the College of Engineering at recruitment events. This position will report directly to the School Chair for the School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintain a caseload of 300-400 College of Engineering advisees; Assist students with registration each semester and maintain student files/records; remain familiar with degree program requirements. Work with Orientation students on degree selection, course registration, and college resources.

Administer student support to enrolled and prospective students; Serve on various campus committees. Completion of the Academic Advising Certificate Program and attend yearly UGA advising workshops.
