  • Position Description:

    ThisPostdoctoral Fellow will be primarily responsible for designing and conductingexperiments related to our research focus of autoimmune diseases. The researchrequires a broad knowledge and distinctive skill set in immunology and biochemistrythat will be important to carry out the goals and specific aims of differentcollaborative projects. This includes emphasis on the techniques including flowcytometry, ELISA, RT-qPCR, cell culture and molecular cloning. Knowledge of breedingand maintaining a rat colony for various disease models is desirable. Eligibleperson is expected to participate in weekly group meetings and writemanuscripts for publications under the supervision of the PI.


    • Ideal applicants are expected to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform multiple researchactivities (multi-task) daily. 
    • Occasional weekend and/or night laboratory work may be necessary.
    • Working experience with maintaining animal colony,breeding, genotyping and functional characterization using such techniques as PCR,cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, westernblotting, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, etc. is preferred.
    • Ph.D. degree in biological/medical sciences (e.g., microbiology, molecular biology,biology, biochemistry, immunology) required.
    • A recent PhD graduate with either animal models or molecularbiology techniques is acceptable; however, experience with both is stronglypreferred. 
    • Basic electronic word processing, database management,and data analysis skills are essential. 
    • Applicant must be able to clearly speak and write technicaldata in English and can work independently.

    Working Conditions:Care and handling of rats in a research environment with possible exposure to allergens. Handling BSL-2 level reagents in laboratory work. Appropriate PPE will be provided. All working protocols are approved by institutional regulatory committees.
