The Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Educational Design and/or Writing. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start date of May 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be appointed as the Director of the Learning Hub for a 5-year term, renewable by the Dean.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in education design, communication, English, information studies or a related area by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, plus a minimum of 3 years of university teaching experience and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement our existing strengths and support the development of learning strategies, curriculum development and communication skills. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at both the undergraduate and graduate program levels, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. We especially invite candidates who have a record of leadership in writing center positions and experience working with academic support programs. Strong candidates will also have experience training writing tutors and working directly with diverse student writers as well as excellent organizational skills. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi and course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.
