About the Counseling Department:

The Counseling Department at Saybrook University has two programs, our CACREP Accredited MA Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Specialization, and a newly launched (fall 2019) PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. The curriculum in both programs is grounded in systemic, relational, anti-racist, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed perspectives. Our courses are delivered online, with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous requirements. In addition, we have required residential conferences two times a year in California. Successful applicants will teach core courses throughout the MA and PhD programs of study, support the Field Experience Coordinator with our practicum and internship courses, work closely with students and colleagues, and assume an active role in the assessment and development of our programs. Although the counseling department at Saybrook University is a teaching focused program, applicants are encouraged to maintain a strong counselor educator identity through leadership and scholarship in the field

  • A doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program by date of appointment
  • Commitment to the goals and mission of the university and department
  • Experience with culturally responsive teaching or supervision
