Application Systems Analyst (Staff)

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Georgia College advances faculty success with faculty development, and instructional design, and support.

The primary purpose of the Application Systems Analyst is to help instructors, staff, and students learn to operate the learning management system, GeorgiaVIEW (D2L by Brightspace). The Application Systems Analyst will provide assistance to the GC Community by developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating courses in GeorgiaVIEW using existing and emerging instructional design technologies and methodologies. The Application Systems Analyst consults with members of the GC community to develop instructional strategies, activities, and materials to improve learning and assessment. The Application Systems Analyst is the primary administrator for the Learning Management System, GeorgiaVIEW. Application Systems Analyst is responsible for all the technical aspects of keeping GeorgiaVIEW running smoothly. Responsibilities include testing upgrades, maintaining system variables and user permissions, adding user accounts and courses, and working with third party integrations (LTI). The Application System Analyst works closely with all members of the GC community.

Key functions include:
Customer Service -
• Troubleshoots issues that faculty, staff, and students experience with the Learning Management System and any related software used as part of course instruction.• Responds to support requests• Interacts with all levels of faculty, staff and students• Identifies and assesses customers’ needs to achieve satisfaction• Provides accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools• Builds sustainable relationships and trust with faculty, staff and students

Systems Management -
• Responsible for all the technical aspects of keeping the Learning Management System, GeorgiaVIEW, running smoothly.• Builds or integrates web-based learning resources — specifically GeorgiaVIEW (Brightspace by Desire2Learn), LMS-integrated tools, productivity software, conferencing tools, websites, blogs, and other web applictions — into the courses.• Tests LMS upgrades.• Adds user accounts and courses.• Maintains system variables.• Manages LMS user permissions.• Manages LMS system security.• Monitors daily data loads for errors and perform corrective action.• Creates and modify custom widgets.• Manages branding aspects of the LMS.• Creates custom Navigation bars for faculty.• Integrates third party applications via LTI or plug-ins.• Acts as liaison between institutional users and application administrators in Athens, as well as campus IT personnel.• Primary administrator of the learning management system• Performs other duties as assigned

Training -
• Train faculty, students and staff members as required to maintain proficiency in supported technologies/applications/processes.• Provides in-person (on-on-one and group) and telecommunication-based training, instructional design, and other support for faculty and staff as assigned by the Director;• Consults with and assists faculty to develop instructional strategies, activities, and materials that optimize learning and assessment in their courses.• Develop training modules and quick guides for supported applications.• Assists faculty, staff, and students to become self-sufficient in the use of the software used for courses.

Program support -
• Load Georgia OnMyLine data quarterly.• Supports and troubleshoots issues with the web site.• Maintain department help ticket system.• Assist with administrative tasks for the department.

Minimum Requirements and skills -
• B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline with at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.• Experience with HTML, web page

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively• Excellent time management and problem solving skills.• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.• Ability to learn quickly.• Ability to contribute to a team effort.• A logical approach to problem solving.• Good interpersonal and client-handling skills with the ability to manage expectations and explain technical detail design
