Basic Function/Overview::


The Manufacturing Technology Program is one of four programs in the Department of Architecture, Engineering and Construction Technology (ECT), Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), and Manufacturing Technology). The Department supports project-based learning in virtual/digital and physical hands-on environments. Department faculty work closely with other departments in order to assist our students in reaching their academic goals.
The Department has 4 full-time and over 20 part-time faculty. The faculty is a fully inclusive population of people from a variety of genders, educational backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations. The mission of the Department is to provide the highest quality of education for our diverse student population in an environment that is inclusive and conducive to learning.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Teach a wide range of manufacturing-related skills and technologies including print reading, mechanical design theory, CAD/CAM, manual and CNC machining, grinding, sheet metal forming, vacuum forming, injection molding, laser cutting 3D printing
2.Teach assigned courses in accordance with course outline of record
3.Participate in ongoing curriculum development and improvement, program advisory board, learning outcome development and assessments, grants relevant to program
4.Serve on College committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program, and participate in appropriate professional development activities
5.Develop and participate in High School outreach activities
6.Participate in articulation efforts with local high schools and 4-year institutions
7.Assist IDE faculty in building and maintaining industry relationships
8.Assist Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) faculty and staff with organization and maintenance of lab facilities and equipment
9.Specify and requisition materials, tools, equipment, software and various items required to support practical application of the curriculum
10.Develop and improve course curriculum including physical projects
11.Fabricate specialized tooling or supplemental examples or demonstration props required for effective course delivery.
12.Collaborate effectively with Industrial Design Engineering Department faculty and other faculty, staff, and administrators to plan, develop, and execute inter-related programs
13.Recruit and manage and evaluate adjunct faculty for the program.
14.Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods including online courses, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions
15.Instruct and support students with diverse backgrounds utilizing culturally relevant pedagogy, careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods including for online instruction, informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions, and student learning outcomes
16.Support a philosophy of instruction focusing on critical thinking and analysis.
17.Maintain scheduled office and campus hours, and participate in department/division meetings and committees
18.Participate in accreditation, program review, and processes for institutional planning
19.Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with administrative responsibilities and College, division, and department policies
20.Attend and participate in College committees and advisory groups to provide service to the college and participate in shared governance
21.Late afternoon and/or evening assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Required Qualifications:

A.The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:
1.Any Bachelor’s degree and two (2) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment; OR
2.Any Associate’s degree and six (6) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment; OR
3.California Community College credential, “Valid for Life” (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline; refer to Ed Code § 87355 (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application.); OR
4. The equivalent (please attach an Equivalency Determination Supplemental Form) AND
B.Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Experience working in a manufacturing-related enterprise.
2.Experience using SolidWorks parametric 3D CAD or similar software
3.Experience with MasterCAM or similar CAM software, “G-Code” manual programming and CNC mill and lathe operation
4.Experience with a wide range of industrial manufacturing processes and methods beyond manual or CNC machining.
5.Ability to communicate effectively to students orally and in writing.
6.Ability to translate curriculum to be meaningful for students with diverse backgrounds
7.Experience assisting students in developing successful behaviors to empower them in the course

License(s) & Other Requirements:

The incumbent may periodically be required to travel to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment:

This is a full-time, tenure-track 10-month contract position that begins in the 2021-22 academic year. Placement on the salary schedule is based on formal education, full-time and/or part-time teaching, and related work experience, up to a maximum placement at step 9.

Official offers of employment are made by Mt. San Antonio College Human Resources and are made contingent upon Board approval. It is also required that a final offer of employment will only be made after the candidate has successfully been live scanned and clearance for employment is authorized by Human Resources.
