The Energetic Materials Rock Characterization and Geomechanics Research Center (EMRGe), formally RMERC at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in energetics. The candidate will work closely with current faculty on a broad range of projects related to energetic materials. Ongoing research at EMRGe include detonation synthesis, structural response to explosive loading, armor design, hypervelocity impacts, and open field shock physics. The successful applicant will be expected to write manuscripts, present scientific papers, and help mentor students. They will also have the opportunity to write research grants and, if interested, gain teaching experience. Support will be provided to attend scientific meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. and demonstrate the ability to perform multidisciplinary independent research in the areas of engineering, physics, and/or chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals and record of presenting at nationally recognized conferences.
  • Must be able to obtain Blasters License and CDL with Hazmat endorsement in the State of Missouri.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge/background in one or more of the following: shock/detonation/initiation physics, energetic materials, ballistics, structual dynamics, laser-based diagnostics, and/or numerical modeling.
  • Proficient in performing data reduction routines and applying statistical analyses to results.
  • Prior experience as a Post Doc or researcher in a related field.
