Purpose of Job:
The Admissions Recruiter assists prospective students in navigating the college selection process. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting, and will be responsible for recruiting, admitting and enrolling a talented and diverse student body.
Scope of Responsibilities:
This position will establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. In addition to general admission recruiter duties, this position is responsible for developing and implementing targeted outreach efforts to multicultural, diverse and underrepresented students. The individual will present information to prospective students during scheduled daily visit presentations on campus and during community and high school visits as well as college fairs. The Admissions Recruiter will assist during campus open house events and will perform other duties as assigned by the director. Domestic travel is required, especially during the fall and spring recruitment seasons. Covering evening and weekend events is a requirement.
Essential Job Functions :
•Coordinate with the Director of Admissions and Recruiting in developing and maintaining an overall plan and strategy for student recruitment and admission.
•Market, recruit and provide customer support to prospects and applicants through face-to-face interactions, small and large group presentations, educational fairs, telephone and email inquiries, and high school visits. This includes extensive travel primarily in Mississippi and Louisiana but in other areas of the continental US as well.
•Facilitates increased awareness of educational opportunities offered at Alcorn State University that results in increased Hispanic/Latino enrollment, retention, and degree completion.
•Maintain current knowledge of university admission policies. Be familiar with university policies and procedures, especially Housing, Financial Aid, First Year Experience, and services for students with disabilities, to communicate effectively with prospects.
•Build relationships and coordinate recruiting activities with targeted community organizations and school districts. Cultivate relationships with community partners.
•Establish working relationships with high school counselors in assigned regions.
•Coordinate prospective student programming to further develop the commitment to ASU.
•Create and implement effective communication strategies using the CRM and other venues of outreach.
•Use data and current trends to strategically market to and recruit high school students within designated region.
•Travel to and recruit students at college fairs and high schools in assigned territories. Attend college fairs specific to Latinx students and services.
•Assist in admission processing by evaluating prospective student records.
•Create, supervises and mentor Hispanic/Latino Student Ambassadors Group.
•Connect with faculty and staff to build support and commitment to serving Latinx students at ASU. Build relationships with Student, Diversity, Engagement and Success organizations and staff.
•Field telephone and email inquiries from potential students and families and deliver informational presentations to students who come to campus for a tour.
•Meet with prospective students and their parents during campus visits
•Participate in professional organizations, conferences and workshops when appropriate.
•Frequent travel including nights and weekends.
•Additional duties as prescribed by the Director of Admissions
•Maintain an/or improve competencies by attending workshops, conferences, and seminars within the field.
•Serve on University Committees.

While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual must regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25. Extensive night and weekend travel is a requirement.
