Position Highlights:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will be invited to join a collaborative research team to work in innovative practices, therapies or devices to mitigate substance use disorder in pregnant and parenting women. The research will couple clinical and translational research to advance women's health. The successful candidate will have strong interest in the neurobiology of addiction.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist the principal investigator in development, implementation, and analysis of this program. Successful candidates will be highly organized, are able to work with a variety of individuals, have strong written, verbal and analytical skills, and are able to present ideas and plans in a cohesive and professional manner. This team member must also have a high level of initiative and problem-solving.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform experiments pertinent to the aims of the project under the supervision of the principal investigator.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and participation at scientific conferences.
  • Participate in grant applications.
  • Provide status reports at department meetings
  • Laboratory record keeping and general laboratory activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and prepare data for publication.
  • Bioinformatics/biostatistical knowledge and application
  • Attend group meetings, seminars, and journal clubs.
  • Train students and staff in the research activities as directed by the laboratory director and/or principal investigator.
  • Other laboratory activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in a related field of study.
  • Minimum one year of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong motivation and dedication to scientific discovery is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and/or graphic formats.
  • Prior experience with animal and human models.
