Position Summary:

The Admissions Counselor, International & Emerging Markets serves as a member of the Admissions team, focusing on recruiting prospective students in support of the College’s enrollment management plan. The Admissions Counselor, International & Emerging Markets represents Penn College, both on and off campus, to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, community colleges, and other individuals and organizations involved in the college selection process both internationally and domestically. The individual will be responsible for developing and executing effective recruitment strategies for assigned geographic territories and student populations. This is a Mid-Atlantic regionally-based position which requires the person to work remotely.

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Participate in all aspects of the College’s off-campus recruitment program. (Essential)
-Participate in all aspects of the College’s on-campus recruitment program. (Essential)
-Participate in professional organizations that directly relate to the work of a regional admissions counselor. (Essential)
-Attend recruitment events tailored for out-of-state and international students, including NACAC and affiliate programs. (Essential)
-Develop and implement effective outreach strategies to support enrollment objectives within assigned geographic territories and among assigned student populations. (Essential)
-Conduct targeted visits to key stakeholders (i.e. community college, high schools, etc.) within the assigned markets with an emphasis on spreading brand awareness, feeding the top of the admissions funnel, and conversion to an overall primary market of the College. (Essential)
-Research and propose new opportunities to engage with prospective students in new and emerging markets. (Essential)
-Explore and recommend new initiatives to cultivate relationships with secondary school counselors, community based organizations, community college personnel, international educational agents, and other individuals with influence in the college search process. (Essential)
-Stay abreast of virtual opportunities and technology trends in higher education for the purposes of recruitment. (Essential)
-Network with colleagues in higher education, including admissions, to expand the reach of the College brand. (Essential)
-Provide complete support and follow-up to prospective students and their families, via multiple modes of communication. (Essential)
-Develop and implement effective strategies to manage and drive inquiries and applicants through the admissions funnel. (Essential)
-Serve as first point of contact for all international inquiries and applicants. (Essential)
-Review international applications and make recommendations for admission. (Essential)
-Effectively use the office’s constituent relationship management system (CRM), including ensuring data integrity and timeliness of data entry. (Essential)
-Design and deliver presentations to groups of prospective students, applicants, and their families both on campus and off campus, and virtually. (Essential)
-Conduct tours for prospective students and parents as needed. (Essential)
-Schedule on-campus, off-campus, and virtual visitations with prospective students and parents to inform them of admissions procedures, general financial aid, housing, academic programs, etc. (Essential)
-Assist prospective transfer students in understanding the College’s external transcript evaluation process as it relates to specific Penn College majors. (Essential)
-Conduct courtesy transcript evaluations. (Essential)
-Assist prospective international students in understanding the College’s admission requirements including, but not limited to, financial guarantee information, credential evaluations, English language proficiency information, etc. (Essential)
-Assess applications for inactivity and suggest cancellations as appropriate. (Essential)
-Conduct an annual review and assessment of the communication plan for international and emerging markets, in collaboration with the Coordinator of Admissions Events & Communications. (Essential)
-Collaborate with offices campus-wide to provide information that students need to convert from accepted to enrolled. (Essential)
-Manage an extensive travel schedule for an assigned geographic territory. This travel includes domestic and international recruitment of students and may require travel to other territories outside of assigned territory as needed. (Essential)
-Develop, manage, and recommend to the Director a budget for recruitment activities within assigned territories. (Essential)
-Collect, monitor, and interpret data to understand assigned territory, including the planning and coordination of recruitment activities. Evaluate the effectiveness of the various approaches taken and make recommendations for adjustments where appropriate. (Essential)
-Schedule and attend high school and CTC visits, college fairs, transfer fairs, international fairs, and other recruitment based visits and events; Including appropriate correspondence prior to and following the visit or event. (Essential)
-Actively support the College’s marketing initiatives. (Essential)
-Participate in the Admissions Office social media activity. (Essential)
-Serve on committees related to international student recruitment and retention as requested by the Director. (Essential)
-Maintain working knowledge of general office procedures. (Essential)
-Maintain working knowledge of admissions policies and procedures, including special admissions requirements. (Essential)
-Recommend to the supervisor revisions to the admissions policies and procedures as appropriate, with an emphasis on serving international and out-of-state students. (Essential)
-Maintain working knowledge of all guidelines related to confidentiality of student information and records (FERPA). (Essential)
-Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of the College’s matriculation process beyond Admissions, to include, financial aid, placement testing, new student advising, course scheduling, bill paying, orientation, residence life, move-in, etc. (Essential)
-Provide telephone and personnel coverage as-needed during in-office and/or remote work hours. (Essential)
-Any incumbent who has the capacity to communicate in a language other than English will help prospective and enrolled students/parents speaking such language with any aspect of the application and enrollment process. (Marginal)

Special Job Features:

*Evening and weekend work is required.

*Person may be required to use personal vehicle for visitations with mileage reimbursement at the current College rate.
*Person must reside within a 50 mile radius of one of the following international airports or be willing to relocate within a predetermined period of time:
-Washington-Dulles International Airport, IAD
-Baltimore-Washington International Airport, BWI
-Philadelphia International Airport, PHL
-Newark-Liberty International Airport, EWR
*The incumbent must also have the ability to travel to the Penn College campus in Williamsport, PA as needed.
*Person will be required to use their personal smart phone to perform their job duties while conducting College travel and would be eligible for an established stipend to offset the cost.
*Position requires more than 50% travel that may be domestic or international during peak recruitment periods to include over-night stays.
*Some nighttime driving required.
*State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.
*Background check will be required on selected candidate.
