Job Description Summary:

Teach one section of Organic Chemistry Lab per semester, one lecture section of General Chemistry lecture I section and supervise three Chemistry Laboratory sections per semester with teaching assistant support. Teaching might include the sophomore level Spectroscopy lecture. Develop lecture materials, homework assignments and exams, grade student work, and assign final grades, along with supervision of the laboratory component and laboratory TAs. Work with the Chemistry Stockroom Manager and the Director of First Year Chemistry to coordinate chemical preparation and laboratory equipment use.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Chemistry or equivalent. Candidates must be familiar with chemical instruction required in the engineering and chemical sciences, including both lecture and laboratory instruction. Must have excellent communication skills and teaching experience. Previous experience in teaching general chemistry, organic chemistry or spectroscopy and laboratory coordination is desirable. Candidates should be familiar with chemical laboratory safety requirements as they apply to the chemistry undergraduate labs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent; Familiarity with First-year Chemistry lecture and general chemistry and laboratory course operations is particularly desirable.
