SUNY Orange was founded in 1950 as the first county-sponsored community college in the State University of New York system. SUNY Orange was the first two-year college in the nation to offer the associate degree nursing program and studies in electron microscopy; and in 1982, the college was the first community college to plan and co-sponsor with local chambers of commerce a business institute.

Job Description:
The Comptroller's Office is seeking a diverse individual to be their new Director of Student Accounts. In the role, the Director of Student Accounts will report directly to the Comptroller and assist in performing the financial and business functions of Student Accounts. This individual will be directly responsible for providing data from Federal and State restricted funds and other student related data to be used by the Comptroller in reporting to governmental and outside agencies. The Director of Student Accounts will manage and supervise the Student Accounts office to include departmental planning and budget preparation, office staff, fee assessment, billing verification, financial aid distribution and certification, 1098-T Tax reporting, student refunds, county operating and capital chargeback, written procedures and customer service. The Director of Student Accounts will also interface with all auditors, independent, Federal and State, providing analyses and schedules as needed. 

Requirements:
Education Required:  Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Business Management.

Experience Required:  Minimum 4 years experience in the following: experience as an assistant to a comptroller or other college fiscal officer or supervising an office staff of five to ten persons engaged in the maintenance of accounts and records; OR an equivalent combination of experience as indicated above.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • Background in Higher Education preferably at a community college
  • Experience using Native Banner or other higher education student system.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, co-workers, all college employees and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
  • Bilingual Skills.

This is a full time, 12 month Staff & Chair position, Grade 70.
