The Student Success Coach serves as a mentor to students participating in the program and meets with students on a regular basis. Responsibilities include development and implementation of a college preparatory and student retention program; as well as, implementing and managing accountability standards for student services to ensure a successful college transition for students enrolled in the program.

  • Develops and maintains working relationships with community partners and works with counselors and administrators to promote program
  • Coordinates an integrates initiatives that promote and enhance student services and activities
  • Leads in the design, development and execution of student workshops, seminars, and events for students, personnel and sponsors
  • Acts as liaison between grant program and partner organizations; as well as, students communicating on a consistent basis to ensure active participation and adherence to program guidelines
  • Assists with the maintenance of records for all grant participants, including permission forms, test scores, demographic information, individual case management notes, and attendance at grant activities
  • Promotes innovative and best practice policies and procedures that result in improving program effectiveness
  • Identifies resources for grant participants and facilitates and schedules staff development trainings for program staff
  • Assists in the planning and execution of grant activities and student services
  • Contributes to development of the local program goals and measurement criteria
  • Provides the Program Director with the information necessary for reports as required by the grant
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or related field and three (3) years of related experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Program management and negotiating skills, including ability to establish a schedule and budget and work within the same
  • Knowledge and proficiency in computers, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of student support programs and ability to make proper referrals
  • Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility for scheduling individual sessions with program participants
  • Ability to supervise students while on campus and asses student needs
  • Ability to asses and provide recommendations for additional assistance as needed for student well-being
  • Ability to conduct workshops, seminars, and trainings
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to travel to out-of-area to State colleges and universities as needed
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
