New College of Florida, a public liberal arts university within the State University System of Florida, and the designated all-honors college within that system, invites applications for the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, within the newly created Office of Outreach and Inclusive Excellence. As the senior administrator within the college solely focused on diversity and inclusion, this position reports directly to New College’s Chief Diversity Officer and Dean of Outreach, and will work with the CDO, the Director of Community Outreach, other members of the President’s Cabinet, and departments across the campus to build a diverse, inclusive and vibrant campus community characterized by openness, kindness, and mutual respect.

New College is committed to building a climate in which individuals of all religions, all races, all ethnicities, all abilities, all genders and gender expressions, all sexual orientations, all political and economic backgrounds, and every heritage are encouraged to engage, and contribute as co-creators of an inclusive campus. The 110-acre bay front campus of this public liberal arts college is located in Sarasota, on Florida’s Gulf Coast, and is home to students and faculty engaged in interdisciplinary research and collaborative learning. New College offers nearly 40 areas of concentration for undergraduates and a master’s degree program.

At New College, diversity and inclusion are ongoing institutional imperatives, and are critical to the college’s aggressive enrollment growth goals. The Director will serve as a lead architect and champion for a broad range of initiatives designed to support institutional ideals for diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will work closely with the Committee on Campus Climate and Culture (4C), the Initiative for Diversity and Equity in Academics (IDEA), Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Human Resources, and the New College Foundation. The Director will also work closely with the New College Student Alliance (our student government), the Cross College Alliance (a regional coalition of institutions of higher education) and a wide variety of local organizations whose interests intersect with the New College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mission.

The Director will lead or co-lead professional training, co-curricular program development, and diversity efforts, including the New College Inclusive Campus Climate initiative, the annual Fiske Campus Diversity Report, the annual Equity Report, and campus climate surveys. The Director will also lead the Access Leadership program, funded by a $500,000 Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation grant and scholarship program.

The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion must be prepared to make strategic contributions as well as demonstrate leadership in driving tactical and operational activities. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and six years of relevant experience, as well as demonstrated success in working with diverse groups and developing and executing programs and practices designed to support diverse and inclusive communities.
