The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking candidates for the position of Systems Administrator. This position works with the Principal Investigator and other key personnel in The School of Medicine on PositiveLinks, a mobile health platform developed to support people living with HIV (PLWH) to reach their health goals.
We're looking for a System Administrator with strong communication and review skills in all areas of tech support and in the realm of IT audits/compliance. Our ideal applicant would have: extensive experience administering internet-connected GNU/Linux servers (incl. maintaining the availability of services and ensuring that the latest OS patches are applied); experience managing AWS, especially EC2, Route53, S3, CloudWatch, and setting up software-defined networks on AWS (i.e. VPC and load balancers); and have familiarity with web hosting along with the ability to read/maintain Ruby on Rails.
This position is open to fully remote work.
Establish and maintain monitoring of production systems.
Establish systems and policies to protect the client and their members' data.
Verify integrity of data backups, recovery of data/systems.
Develop tools for automation (e.g. Ansible) of server configuration and application deployment.
Configure access and security for AWS.
Deploy new builds to production servers.
Enhance system security and manage vulnerability scanning.
Manage additional AWS services such as CloudWatch, Route53, S3, SES.
Update AWS servers and systems as needed for security.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Intermediate software development skills, to be able to expand "infrastructure as code" concepts over time for automated configuration and application monitoring.
- Associate's degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related discipline and 1 year of relevant experience.
