The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a general internist with specialization in palliative care. This position will support the large inpatient and outpatient demands of the palliative care service in addition to participating fully in the educational programs in General Internal Medicine/Palliative Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2021, or sooner if possible.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate must have proven clinical expertise in palliative care. Demonstrated excellence and achievement in teaching and education are strongly desired. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience.

The successful candidate will report to the Medical Director of the Palliative Care Unit and the Head, Division of General Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division of General Internal Medicine, comprised of 20 full time academic internists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement.
