Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: Postdoctoral positions are available at The University of Alabama to individuals with research interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.

The Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department seeks applications for a Postdoctoral position. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

The duties for this position will include experiments simulating storm surge/waves and/or river hydraulics under various compound flooding scenarios.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a field of research represented within the College. The candidate must also have experience in hydrological modeling and agricultural drought monitoring and forecasting.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: A qualified candidate should have: i) experience in coastal hydrodynamic modeling (i.e. DFLOW, ADCIRC, FVCOM), ii) strong programming/scripting skills in Python or MATLAB, iii) experience with high performance computing workflows.
