STANDARD HOURS: 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; One late night per week; Flexibility to work other hours as needed.

MINIMUM STARTING RATE OF PAY*: $18.23/hour

*Current benefit eligible employees will be placed within the pay range based on their current rate/range.

POSITION SUMMARY
Assist current and prospective veterans and family members with identifying and applying for federal and state Veteran educational benefits. Responsible for certification of enrollment information for eligible Veteran students and dependents to state and federal Department of Veterans Affairs. Provide administrative support to the Veterans’ Resource Center team.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

    Guide student veterans and dependents through the application process for state and federal veteran education benefits. Provide customer service by responding to emails and phone calls from students and prospective students with questions about the admissions process, overall VA education benefits application and certification process, payment and benefit problems, rate of pursuit calculations, and transfer of Military Credit for Prior Learning process.Responsible for certification of enrollment data through the appropriate systems, verifying that only those courses that apply to the student’s program are certified, and ensuring the college maintains compliance with all related federal, state, and college policies. Maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Maintain Veteran Educational Benefit Program Policy and Procedure manual. Assist with the preparation of required reports for federal and state Veterans Affairs.
  • Assist with workshops, events, and outreach activities, including student club support.
    Provide administrative support to the Veterans Resource Center including but not limited to, record-keeping, processing student forms and documents, running reports and creating correspondence, spreadsheets, oversight of budgets, ordering supplies updating website/social media and presentations.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associate Degree in business, education or related field.
Experience: Minimum of two years of work experience related to VA education benefit programs. Experience in higher education preferred. Professional work experience with veterans, which demonstrates an understanding of and sensitivity to their unique experiences. Veterans may receive priority.

**An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office Suite Advanced skills preferred

Experience with student records information management system (e.g. PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) and Department of Veterans Affairs database (VAOnce) preferred.
