Application Services provides design, implementation and production support services for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems: Ellucian Banner (SIS), Enterprise Applications, Business Applications, Application Development & Integration and supports the mission of the University by developing, coordinating, and managing software application systems that provide critical information services for university constituents.

Reporting to the Director of Application Services, Applications Developer-III (Technical Lead) provide senior level support for Applications managed by Application Services and interfaces with both functional and technical staff to complete tasks related to Application Development and Integration within ITS and across campus units.

Assist in the planning, design, development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.

Design, code, document, and test new programs/applications and modify existing programs/ applications. They will also design, create or modify database structures and tables based on relation database principles. Build queries and system integrations between multiple enterprise systems.

Working alone, on project teams or with the assistance of Applications Analysts/Specialists, Developers, DBAs, System Administrators, Project Coordinators and/or other resources, this person designs, codes, documents, tests, and debugs Application environments.

Anticipates new requirements based on changing ASU needs & new trends in technology and participates in the requirements gathering.

With the assistance from System Administrators, set-up/ enhance/ manage development environment.

Participates in design, development, and delivery of training programs and individualized classes for software applications in use.

Recommends, initiates & implements improvements to IT operations & processes. Contributes constructive suggestions for change or improvement. Training and Experience: Senior-Level position requiring industry standard level certifications or college/university diploma or degree in the field of computer science and/or computer systems or 5 to 8 years equivalent/relevant work related experience.
Work experience or familiarity with Higher Education environment is highly desirable.
Extensive experience with Enterprise software applications, including Enterprise Resource Planning (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) products.
Understanding of software design patterns, such as model-view-controller and object-oriented methodologies.
Experience developing and utilizing REST-based APIs.
Experience developing user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
Strong Application programming & logic skills, including SQL programming in an Oracle environment.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as Python, PHP, Java, PL/SQL, and ASP.NET.
Experience with frameworks and technologies, such as Django, Bootstrap, JQuery, ASP.NET, Laravel, Angular, Grails.
Experience with data exchange and object notation formats, such as JSON and XMLExperience in the development of strategies for optimal use of SharePoint and key assistance in integrating SharePoint with other web-based applications and collaborative tools within the organization.
Thorough and proven understanding of relational and multi-dimensional database structures and schemas.
Experience developing database-centric applications and working with query languages.
Serves as member of cross-unit team to support student information systems integration and data use.

Executes the full lifecycle of software solutions, including research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, documentation, and other related activities that result in software-based products, ensuring their security, stability, integrity, and recoverability.
Support and maintain system integrations and interfaces between Banner and third-party systems/applications.
Develops applications and integrations according to specifications using appropriate programming languages, tools, development methodologies, and adhering to relevant standards, while communicating progress, and delivering within scheduled timelines.
Creates and maintains database objects (i.e. tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and packages) that satisfy ACID properties.
Manages SharePoint environment, including design, architecture, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring and security of the portal.
Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency, and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
Ensures document coding (purpose and code logic) is clearly organized, structured, and reusable
Liaise with Infrastructure team, Web Services team, DBA, Project Manager and others to support applications/systems & integration and assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.
Develops test plans and ensuring that code is well tested, covering expected cases and exceptions.
Assists in developing and maintaining departmental coding standards and participates in peer code reviews.
Insure that the quality of all data on campus are reliable and available, yet remains confidential, effective and efficient while maintaining integrity for Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements and compliance.

Organization

Albany State University is a four-year institution in southwest Georgia offering undergraduate and graduate liberal arts and professional degree programs, and a wide range of outreach programs to the community. Albany State University is located in Albany, a progressive city of 100,000, on a 206-acre campus featuring impressive new buildings. Both traditional and non-traditional students make up the more than 4,000 students who attend Albany State. They come primarily from southwest and middle Georgia, Atlanta, other states in the U.S., and several foreign countries. The average student age is 24 and about 40 percent of the students live in on-campus housing.

Albany State offers more than 30 undergraduate degree programs, of which the most popular majors are biology, criminal justice, computer science, middle-grades education, business administration and nursing. The University offers six advanced degrees: the master of science in criminal justice, master of public administration, master of business administration, master of science in nursing, master of education in 11 majors, and an education specialist degree. The university also offers the Board of Regents' engineering transfer program and the dual degree program in engineering with Georgia Tech.

Students at Albany State stay busy after class by participating in 59 clubs and organizations including bands, choirs, religious groups, honor societies, several major Greek and honor sororities and fraternities, and ROTC. An NCAA Division II school, Albany State's intercollegiate sports include men's football, basketball, baseball, track and field, cross-country and women's basketball, volleyball, cross-country and track and field.

A historically black institution, Albany State was founded in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute and supported by private religious organizations. It remained privately supported through 1917, when it began to receive state support and became the Georgia Normal and Agricultural College. It continued to grow and in 1932, when the Board of Regents was established, it became part of the University System of Georgia. The mission was expanded in 1943, and it became a four-year college and assumed the name Albany State College. In 1981 the college offered its first graduate program and in 1996 its name was changed to Albany State University.
