Primary Purpose:
The mission of enrollment management is to recruit and enroll talented and diverse cohorts of undergraduate and graduate students to the University of the Pacific who are most likely to persist, graduate, and become active alumni.

Essential Functions:
In partnership with the Vice President for Enrollment Management the Dean of Undergraduate Admission will lead the University’s efforts to recruit and shape new cohorts of intellectually prepared, exceptionally talented, and diverse students. As an integral member of the Office of Enrollment Management’s leadership team and in partnership with the academic deans of Pacific’s undergraduate schools/colleges, the Dean will develop, lead and manage the University’s undergraduate recruitment, application selection and matriculation processes. The Dean will lead a team of on-campus first-year and transfer student recruiters, regional recruiters, and college-based liaisons charged with recruiting undergraduate students.

The Dean of Undergraduate Admission joins a robust strategic enrollment management team comprised of graduate admission, financial aid, enrollment operations, and enrollment marketing professionals. The successful candidate will have an established record demonstrating both the art and science of selective college admission work and will be charged with building and sustaining recruitment programs that fortifies Pacific’s market position. As a visible presence on- and off-campus and a strong collaborator among faculty and staff, the Dean will be an effective spokesperson for the University.

1. Responsible for enrolling the desired number of students at the university while maintaining the necessary academic profile and diversity to ensure a globally diverse campus.

2. Develop and implement comprehensive data-driven recruitment strategies for all first-year and transfer student programs in conjunction with academic schools/colleges which includes, but is not limited to the following components: Development of an inquiry pool through the use of student search services, outreach, high school and community college relations, use of the web and other emerging social and digital technologies, campus visit programs, publications, and correspondence.

3. Work closely with administrative and academic departments as well as leadership to strategically market new programs in an effort to recruit new populations of students.

4. Monitor enrollment processes for efficiency and improvement, as well as manage budgetary dollars related to undergraduate admission.

5. Lead by developing, supervising, and training a team of undergraduate admission staff that focus on first-year and transfer student recruitment, campus visit programing, and equity, inclusion, and access strategy.

6. Contribute to the effective deployment of multi-channel communication plans driven by Slate CRM and serve as part of the leadership team that assesses, maintains, and conducts periodic and annual reviews of application and communication tools.

7. Co-Chairs the Admission Review Committee for the application process while maintaining open lines of communication with college counselors and academic divisions on issues related to policies and procedures for admission to the University.

8. Oversees the coordination of a college counselor advisory council, purposed to provide feedback on initiatives and strategies for the recruitment and enrollment of new students.

9. Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admission by serving on various University committees and participating in appropriate state and national professional organizations.

10. Oversees recruitment territory management and yield activities by monitoring strategies and utilizing tools such as the student information system, Slate, and other resources to research, compile data, and produce reports on progress toward meeting undergraduate enrollment goals.

11. Manages the Office of Undergraduate Admission fiscal budget in compliance with higher education recruitment and admission policies and practices, and applicable University, state and federal regulations.

12. Leads promotion of academic and scholarship programs to prospective students, families and high school and community college counselors for each school/college, collaborating with key administrative and faculty members to assist with reaching prospective students.

13. Provides input to the Vice President for Enrollment Management on analysis, support, and recommendations related to the strategic enrollment management efforts of the University and implement targeted initiatives outlined in the strategic enrollment management plan.

14. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

15. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and conferences, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

16. Contributes to the overall success of the Office of Enrollment Management and the University by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Eight plus (8+) years of related experience at a college or university in admission with supervisor experience of professional staff.
• Five plus (5+) years of experience with managing budgets and event planning.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven track record for making data driven decisions to support achievement of enrollment goals.
• Effective interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of database systems such as Slate, Banner, or other type of database product utilized by institutions.
• Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
• Ability to implement a recruitment plan and demonstrate commitment to diversity.
• Demonstrated ability in team building, leadership, supervision, management, selection, performance evaluation conflict resolution, and problem solving within the context of a college or university admission office.
• A demonstrated understanding of the importance of building and maintaining open communication with college partners, school counselors, and community college stakeholders.
• A working knowledge of marketing principles, best practices, and techniques relevant to student recruitment.
• The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours.
