Job Description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Division of Epidemiology and Prevention at the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Senior Research Analyst which will support international HIV Surveillance programs.  The primary purpose for this position is to complete tabulation plan, data analysis, and data quality improvement  related to HIV surveillance. This position reports directly to the PHIA Data Manger/Biostatistician.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible conducting advanced analysis and support for tabulation plan, data analysis and checking validity and accuracy of data.compile and interpret research data; establish and maintain databases, develop quality assurance; and provide final interpretations to others.
  • Using statistical software like SAS or STATA, analyze data and maintains data reports and database files on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects.
  • Design and conduct quantitative study report preparation, analyze findings, develop conclusions, develop and write reports, prepare presentations of relevant findings and conclusions, and recommends appropriate actions.
  • Perform searches to generate standard and customized reports using statistical applications.  Summarize results of searches.
  • Develop and perform effective methods of data collection and assessment. May receive, inventory, enter, and organize collected data. Develop methods and tools to ensure validity and accuracy of data and compliance with quality control requirements.
  • Establish and maintain database files, perform required data extraction through programming and report on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects.
  • Act in a lead role in the summarization and preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and proposals by providing and presenting statistical information in the forms of tables, charts, or graphs. Review work of support staff and determines how analysis will be presented.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to less experience personnel in qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Education: Bachelors in Information Management, Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Sciences, or field of study related to the research.
Experience: Two (2) years related experience in a research environment required.
Experience in SAS, STATA, SPSS, and/or Excel preferred.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
