                                 Post-doctoral Fellow Position

 

The opportunity: A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Addiction Genomics at the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Maryland School of Medicine for a candidate who would like to extend her/his training knowledge to the field of alcohol and other substance use disorders. The position is available for a highly motivated individual who is enthusiastic about understanding molecular markers of pathological and behavioral changes in substance users. The candidate will participate in on-going collaborative projects including, research on cell-free biomarkers of substance use in humans, as well as to increase expertise in designing, conducting, and analyzing data from biomarker-based translational research projects on substance use.

Eligibility and conditions of employment: Candidates should have a background in genomics, molecular biology or neuroscience. Candidates must have:

·       Doctoral degree in genomics, molecular biology, neuroscience or relevant field;

·       Excellent writing and communication skills;

·       A fair understanding and/or willingness to learn ethical conduct of research involving human subjects

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment;

Duration of the fellowship is two-years. A candidate immediately after their PhD or less than 2 years of post-doctoral training is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated capabilities in relevant areas, including writing for scholarly publications, and familiarity with good research practices.
