The College of Nursing is searching for a faculty member, clinical track position to begin Fall 2021.
Position is full-time academic year, non-tenure track, limited to 06-17-2023 with anticipated renewal.
The College of Nursing has over 800 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students in MS, DNP, and Ph.D. programs. The College of Nursing includes the Kingston campus (undergraduate program) and the additional location of the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center (NEC) in Providence (graduate program and upper-division undergraduate course work). Both locations provide opportunities for clinical skills and simulation learning as well as interdisciplinary research and collaborations. The College of Nursing is one of three Colleges comprising the URI Academic Health Collaborative.
The College of Nursing (CON) is committed to scientific inquiry, knowledge development, and excellence in teaching. We are seeking a faculty member with a strong record of clinical expertise that supports our mission to prepare nurses to excel as outstanding and compassionate clinicians, scholars, and leaders who will enhance the health and healthcare of individuals, families, communities, and populations both locally and globally. The successful candidate will have an appointment with the College of Nursing with primary responsibilities in clinical teaching, with possible classroom teaching, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will be expected to oversee clinical placement faculty/preceptors associated with specialty course work, participate in student advising and service to the college, and contribute to scholarly activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the University by teaching courses and mentoring students for the college.
Contribute to any of the four areas of scholarship— Discovery, Integration, Application, and Teaching.
Service as an advisor, mentor, and professional role model to students.
Service to the college, university, and professional organizations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
1). Ph.D. or DNP degree at the time of appointment.
2). Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
3). Demonstrated excellence in oral communication skills.
4). Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
5). Clinical expertise in nursing.
6). Eligible for RN and/or NP licensure in Rhode Island.
7). Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
1). Clinical expertise in adult health- acute or chronic.
2). Demonstrated experience in clinical and classroom teaching.
3). Evidence of clinical scholarship.
