Position Summary:

UCI’s Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences is translating the tripartite mission—Discover-Teach-Heal—into the diverse healthcare workforce of the future and groundbreaking scientific discoveries. Creating a first-of-its-kind alliance across health disciplines, the college comprises the School of Medicine, the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, the recently-launched School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the future School of Population & Public Health, the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, and research units focused on cancer, clinical translational science, precision health, and stem cells. In robust synergy with UCI Health, the only academic medical center in Orange County, UCI is transforming education, discovery, and patient care to benefit the region, state, and nation.

Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs (VCHA), the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (AVC-HEDI) will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across UCI Health Affairs (UCI Susan and Samueli College of Health Sciences (COHS), UCI Health, and health institutes and centers). The AVC-HEDI will serve as a member of the health affairs executive leadership team, and lead efforts to develop strategic and measurable outcomes for health affairs as it relates to DEI. The incumbent will lead the Health Affairs Office of Diversity, guide the strategic direction of activities across health affairs, amplify campus interventions, and accelerate achieving inclusive excellence goals for undergraduates, graduate students, residents, faculty and staff of the COHS.

Required:

    10+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of successfully leading, developing, and implementing evidence-based equity, diversity, and inclusion strategies, programs, and tools at large, complex organizations.Bachelor's degree in related area required.Leadership experience as a thought leader and/or scholar in health equity, diversity, and inclusion. Demonstrated accomplishments in inclusive excellence. Ability to manage and influence change throughout the organization with effective relationship building skills across all levels. Prior experience working with an executive leadership team. Disciplined, data-oriented, analytical leader who possesses business intelligence that is equally as strong as their emotional intelligence. Strong ability to translate data into strategy and action plans. Demonstrated track record of spirit of innovation, openness to experimentation and trying new ideas to spark change. Knowledge of the organizational environment of academic healthcare to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints. Advanced consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred:

    Graduate level degree (Master’s, Doctorate) in related area preferred; Health professions education/experience desired
