There is an immediate opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant for an NIH funded project on identification of extracellular vesicles as biomarkers for brain tumors and other CNS disorders. The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. 

Job Responsibilities:

The PRA will work in a collaborative neuroscience laboratory environment. Wet lab experiments will include running Western blots, ELISA assays, qPCRs, bacterial culture, and will perform mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and next generation sequencing experiments. The applicant will be expected to handle human biofluids. In particular, the applicant will perform exosome purification/characterization and phage-display library panning from cell line samples and from patient biofluids. The overall goal is to identify biofluid-based biomarkers for brain tumors, multiple sclerosis and other CNS disorders. The applicant will be involved in experimental design, data analysis, and results communication. The PRA will perform routine lab work such as ordering supplies, making solutions, organizing samples, and managing external collaborations. Perform exosome purification/characterization and phage-display library panning to identify biomarkers for brain tumors, multiple sclerosis and other CNS disorders.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degrees in neurosciences, cell and molecular biology/biochemistry, microbiology, or relevant fields.
  • The successful candidate should have at least one-year experience working in molecular/biochemistry labs
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills required: mammalian tissue culture, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, ELISA, Western blots, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry.
Competencies
