The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences' Center for Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing at the Stanford School of Medicine is seeking a Program Manager. This position will manage community outreach and program development for introducing the allcove model in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties and will support local school districts in strengthening their mental health infrastructure. The Program Manager will engage with community and educational stakeholders to assess needs and opportunities and forge partnerships, while also providing technical assistance in support of allcove implementation. Duties will also include facilitating mental health stigma reduction and awareness activities, making community presentations, organizing a biennial adolescent mental wellness conference, and managing a variety of school mental health and suicide prevention projects.
The Program Manager must exercise sound judgment in targeting and cultivating possible community partnerships and promoting and communicating Stanford's objectives to the community. (S)he will need to have the demonstrated capacity for fostering networks between faculty, staff and community partners, particularly those that work in school administration, mental health, social services, community health, and suicide prevention. Working in collaboration with school districts and family and community partners, the Manager will lead and manage the effort to build schools' capacity to support student mental health by enhancing teacher training, classroom-based social emotional learning, school-based wellbeing services, and district-wide suicide prevention efforts, as prioritized by the collaborative partners.
This position will be responsible for supporting multiple internal and external working groups, communication with faculty and community partners, planning large conferences and other community events and running numerous projects that support increased awareness, access, and stigma-reduction for mental health services, with a particular focus on early intervention and services for individuals ages 12-25. The Program Manger will also be expected to facilitate and manage communication among a diverse group of stakeholders and to make community presentations related to these program goals.
Duties include:
- Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
- Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function
- Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
- May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA/MS
- Prior experience working in mental health, suicide prevention and/or working with schools
- Knowledge of and prior experience working in San Mateo County (particularly Redwood City and East Palo Alto)
- Experience working with diverse and BIPOC communities
- Experience using programs such as Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel, Adobe Experience Manager, MediaSpace, MailChimp, iMovie
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
