Description:

The Liberal Studies Program invites applications for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Liberal Studies. This position involves instruction in undergraduate courses pertaining to education including introduction to teaching, cultural diversity in the K-12 classroom, philosophy, and ethics along with maintaining an active research program and scholarly activities. Position subject to final funding.

Specialization: K-12 Education, Educational Philosophy, Cultural Diversity

Responsibilities:

    Teach a combination of the following courses: Introduction to Teaching as a Profession, Cultural Diversity in the Classroom, Writing 3: Education and Professional Ethics, and Liberal Studies Capstone: Foundations of Education.Ongoing contributions to curriculum and program development.Maintain an active research program and scholarly activitiesIntegrate faith across the curriculum and in course deliveryAdvise and mentor undergraduate students as neededSupervise students as they fulfill service learning requirementsParticipate in program review and accreditation reporting Active participation in service to the University through committee participation at the program, School and/or University level, as well as service to the broader professional community May be needed to work at alternate Regional Campuses or Sites

Level: Assistant or Associate Professor

Qualifications:

    A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University. Candidates should possess an earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in EducationDemonstrated expertise in the field of K-12 education incorporating diverse perspectives with faith integrationA commitment and understanding of teaching excellence in an undergraduate liberal arts programEvidence of teaching excellence in both university and K-12 settingsActive scholarship and participation in the field of teaching and education.Established record of success in serving linguistically and ethnically diverse populations.Demonstration of collegial teamwork.

Experience:

    Skilled in teaching at the K-12 and higher education level with a background in teaching pedagogies, curriculum and active research agenda related to Education and/or TeachingA demonstrated commitment to scholarship in Education and/or Teaching Profession



Workload: Full-time faculty position.
