Director of Student Experience and University Registrar

The Director of Student Experience and University Registrar is responsible for the Student Experience (student intake process, academic advising, and student retention) and Registrar Office function. The Director is responsible for ensuring that efficient and compliant practices are observed by all staff from the point of intake to graduation. This includes the development of process efficiencies through strong project management and system automation. The Director is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient provision of all planning/registering services. This includes managing all student communication and developing programs and initiatives that improve student retention. The Director will ensure the programs of student recognition, career services, retention, academic advising, and student orientation are properly managed. The Director also handles the student complaint and resolution process.

As University Registrar, the Director is the primary administrator for technical operations and reporting in the Registrar’s Office. The Director will be responsible for organizing and managing student records into a cohesive and efficient system. The Director must be knowledgeable of all programs of study including majors, minors, emphases, and concentrations and be familiar with all published academic policies and regulations of the University. The Registrar also performs diversified duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Student Services.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • To promote the mission and support the institutional objectives of Hodges University.
  • To adhere to all FERPA requirements to include maintenance of all department documents, discussions and records.
  • To provide the highest level of professionalism and customer service to all constituents.
  • To oversee the development of appropriate and efficient student services policies, procedures, and processes that are required to move the student from the point of acceptance to graduation.
  • To ensure that all staff are properly trained to meet the needs of all students.
  • To propose and develop strategies and processes to improve student retention rates.
  • To collaborate with other university departments to develop strategies to educate and assist students with college success and to ensure open communication and model practices.
  • To oversee the creation, updates, and review of departmental policies, procedures, and documents.
  • To participate in the Strategic Planning and Budget Council and implement budgetary processes for effective planning and assessment.
  • To serve as the custodian of all student records.
  • To serve as a member on committees as assigned.
  • To promote and facilitate a culture of continuous improvement of both processes and technologies in support of student success.
  • To mentor and motivate staff.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Have a Master’s degree (preferred) or a Bachelor’s degree with experience relative to the specific requirements of the position.
  • Have a minimum of five years of related experience in the areas of records management, registration, student information systems, academic advising, and student retention.
  • Have a minimum of five years of leadership, supervisory, and fiscal management experience.
  • Possess strong management and communication skills, and the personality and ability necessary both to coordinate and lead the work of multiple staff and to work across departments to achieve institutional goals.
  • Have significant experience using a student information system (preferred knowledge of Ellucian Colleague).
  • Possess knowledge of, and experience with, institutional and specialized accrediting obligations.
  • Have the ability to manage, and strengthen, the performance of the Student Experience and Registrar Office teams.
  • Possess a strong problem-solving orientation.
  • Possess a strong work ethic with the ability to excel in a demanding, outcome-oriented, and dynamic environment with limited supervision.
