Assistant Professor of Art - Graphic Design
The College of the Arts at Columbus State University has an opening for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, tenure-track, appointment in Graphic Design in the Department of Art. A successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all undergraduate levels of Two-dimensional and Graphic Design.Candidates should have demonstrable experience in the development, expansion and further refinement of a robust Graphic Design curriculum offered within a NASAD accredited B.F.A. and B.A. in Art.

Priority consideration will be given to applications received by February 15, 2021; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications for part-time and full-time faculty positions must include transcripts of all academic work, and official transcripts must be presented prior to an offer being extended. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.

Responsibilities include: overseeing the Graphic Design curriculum; creating internship opportunities; teaching three (3) related undergraduate courses per semester - which includes one (1) section of 2D Design per year; maintaining a record of excellence in teaching and creative activity; and other services as appropriate within the Department, College and University.Required Qualifications
An MFA in Graphic Design or a closely related field of study is required. Candidate should possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative department that regularly hosts programs such as the All-State Art Symposium, the National Art Honors Society conference, a visiting artist and scholars residency program (VASRP), and contemporary exhibitions. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability in teaching all levels of graphic design and a 2D Design course. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to lead in the expansion of graphic design as part of a comprehensive department.
A successful candidate should demonstrate expertise and professional experience in design for print, web, interactive, and other forms of design and a strong record of collaboration with clients and colleagues. An outstanding candidate will be well versed in contemporary design theory, articulate a vision for leading edge practices in design, and possess a record of excellence in the classroom.Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of successful teaching and related professional experience are preferred, and this may include graduate teaching assistantships.Required Documents to Attach
