The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine is deeply committed to helping the community, both locally and globally. We are a world-leading department offering comprehensive training in perioperative patient care, pain management and critical care medicine. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager (HRM) to provide a wide range of human resources functions, including providing leadership to develop HR operations strategies to support organization goals and objectives. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration (DFA), the HRM is responsible for the day-to-day operations of human resources service which includes: talent acquisition, talent development, compensation management, employee relations and engagement, data analytics, and disability & workers compensation leave management, and strategic planning for implementation of new initiatives and HR programs. The HRM will oversee and manage 2 human resources professionals. As the HR partner for faculty, department leadership, managers and resource for employees, the HRM position requires influence at all levels and exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of success in a full spectrum of human resources including strategy, recruitment and retention programs, organizational development, problem solving, change management, leadership development, succession planning, compensation management, employee and labor relations and human resource administration and training. In this role, you will have responsibilities vital to the success of the department in enacting its mission of research, teaching, and patient care. The Department of Anesthesiology includes over 150 regular and contingent staff employees, and nearly 300 faculty, clinician educators, and academic staff.
- Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.
- Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
- Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.
- Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.
- May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.
- Assess training needs and may develop associated training.
- May direct and/or supervise staff.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; experience as an advisor to senior management in all human resources areas.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and understanding of group interactions; demonstrated ability of establishing credibility and trust with diverse client groups, including senior leaders.
- Strong supervision/management and staff development experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong analytical, creative problem solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing, and strategic decision making skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
- Prefer for SHRM HR Certification, or related certificate
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally use a telephone.
- Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
