Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level immigration advising on employment-based visas, to include H-1b, J-1, TN and permanent residency sponsorship in the EB1 and EB2 category. Responsible for preparing H-1b petitions and permanent residency applications and meeting with sponsoring departments to explain the immigration process.

  • Maintain databases pertinent to foreign faculty hosted by the institution, while keeping the Director abreast any changes in the regulations pertaining to employment based visa sponsorship.

  • Responsible for updating information on the website, handouts and brochures used for assisting the campus community on employment based visa sponsorship.

  • Perform as a designated school official (when needed), and provide regulation interpretation in accordance with the F-1 regulations; including being familiar with SEVIS and F-1 visa regulations.

  • Assist with all programming initiatives and in joint programming with other campus or community entities.

  • Identify program goals; develop strategies to meet the goals, coordinate efforts with appropriate offices within the university; and assist with special projects as requested.

  • Present at workshops or information session.

  • Participate in professional development, training, webinars, and information sessions.

  • May require some travel.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field and three years of related experience.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree and 5 years of related experience.

KSAs:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet and database applications. Knowledge of immigration processing and administrative advising to hiring departments on employment based non immigrant and immigrant status.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a diverse international population, as well as other campus faculty, university administrators, and government officials.

  • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation skills.
