The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a nine-month, full-time tenured/tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE).  Domains of interest for this position include health systems and human systems. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in ISE methods for healthcare and/or human systems design and engineering with interest in applying AI methods. We seek persons with expertise in various aspects of ISE, including data analytics, decision analysis, human factors engineering, and simulation analysis, who are extending their research agendas to include AI methods and applications to health systems and human systems. This new AI-enabled ISE position is part of a distributed research cluster/concentration across colleges including potential research collaborations with the College of Medicine, College of the Arts, Warrington College of Business, and Levin College of Law.

In addition to having a doctorate degree in ISE or a closely related discipline, the applicant must possess a strong academic record for research and teaching excellence as well as a strong service record. Potential professor candidates will be expected to have a clear agenda for substantially adding to current department funded research combined with a passion for mentoring and leading early-career faculty to success. All candidates will also be expected to have a high-level of awareness of future trends in funding and research opportunities in application domains, such as healthcare and human systems. Additionally, candidates will be expected to develop a high-quality publication record at UF, supervise Ph.D. students, and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in ISE. Outstanding candidates will be considered for any available endowed appointments (faculty fellowships/professorships/chairs) at the time of offer.

UF ISE offers BS, ME, MS and Ph.D. degrees. We have approximately 500 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. The Department hosts research in various application areas including energy systems, healthcare systems, supply chain systems and transportation systems. We also currently host methodological research in data analytics, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis.
