UVA: University Physicians Group is currently recruiting for a full time Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team in Charlottesville, VA. Our Certified Nurse Midwifes work under the guidelines as designed by the University of Virginia Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CNM hired by the University of Virginia will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges and through their agreement with their collaborating physicians who have initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines.
As a member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the primary purpose of this position is to function as a full-scope Midwife providing independent and/or collaborative management of care with the Ob/Gyn team in accordance with the Department’s mission. This care will extend to uncomplicated obstetric and gynecologic patients in the outpatient setting as well as obstetrical patients and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods in the hospital setting. The Midwife will provide personal, individualized, supportive midwifery care while maintaining an impeccable medical reputation through appropriate referral, community resourcing, family education, and professional excellence. The Midwife will also participate in teaching medical students and residents the management of normal labor and delivery, and provide feedback regarding their performance. The candidate will project a positive image of UVA Health System through excellent communication, teamwork, teaching, and patient care skills, to support patients/families, facility personnel and UVA Health System processes to ensure coordinated, efficient, and safe/quality care while providing an excellent patient/family experience.

- BSN and Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited midwifery program or equivalent training
- Recent experience managing the healthcare of women in accordance with ACNM standards or ACNM currency of practice certificate (if 5 years or more since original certification), Experience providing full scope midwifery care (5+ years preferred)
- Current Virginia RN license, Current CNM/NP Virginia license, Virginia Authorization to prescribe and DEA#, National Certification from the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and maintains national certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (ACMB), Current AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification, Current AAP NRP certification, Current NCC EFM certification
- Experience utilizing a personal computer and computerized scheduling.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
